NYE Nashville Style

So, for those of you who follow me on Twitter and Facebook, you might have seen some photo action from our recent trip to Nashville for New Year’s (I love my new iPhone).  But, I couldn’t leave it at that!  We had a great trip so here are the details:

We headed to Nashville with our friends David & Stephanie and JW & KC.  We stayed at Stephanie’s parents’ house and were treated to a home-cooked meal on Friday night.  Then, we chilled out and played the new Just Dance 3.  Usually when we play  the boys win but this time the girls DOMINATED!  I have to admit it felt pretty good to beat JW!

Saturday, we woke up and headed downtown to the Country Music Hall of Fame.  Believe it or not, Raleigh is NOT a huge country music fan….he blames this on listening to it non-stop as a kid…so he wasn’t super duper excited to go but decided to be a team player.  Y’all, it was really cool…even to my non-loving country music husband.  It was really neat to learn about the early folks of country music and to see how it has evolved over the years.  It amazed me at how teeny tiny the ladies were.  Here is a picture of a dress worn by Patsy Cline:

The building itself was beautiful.  They had two big walls covered in records….it was really nice to see.

Of course, my architecture husband was more interested in the floors and ceiling…

but who can blame the guy?  Like I said, it really is a must-see if you plan a trip to Nashville!

After our tour, we headed down the street to stroll through downtown.

We ended up eating at Jack’s BBQ on Broadway.  They have it set up buffet style (like Dirk’s in Montgomery) so you get to choose what you want.  The line was a little long since we hit it right at noon but the wait wasn’t so bad.  The food made it all worthwhile…truly some delicious barbecue!

Once we finished lunch, we headed down the street to Boot County because we heard of their buy one get two free deal.  JW HAD to have some boots and I must admit I wanted some too!  They had a pretty interesting selection….

But we finally ended up with JW buying two pairs of boots (one espresso and the other a camel color) and I scored a sweet deal on some black mid-calf boots.  While we were there, we ran into Jessica, who I went to high school with and I learned that she was a blog follower!  It was great to catch up with you!!!!!!!!!!!

We made a couple more stops and then it was time to go home and rest before our big night.  The girls crawled under the covers and watched a movie for two hours and the boys watched the football games.  It reminded me of college… :)

After some showering and primping, it was time to hit the town for New Year’s Eve.

We had a limo for the evening and it took us back downtown to a karaoke bar before our dinner reservations at Sambuca in The Gulch.  There might be a video on somebody’s phone of all of us singing but I will spare y’all the off-key versions of your favorite songs.  We were so excited about our dinner at Sambuca and it did not disappoint.  It is very swanky and was lots of fun.  Sitting at dinner, with some of our closest friends, I was so happy to have this experience.  I love my children more than life itself but it was so much fun to have some quality adult-time.  We had a three course meal plus desserts and it was fabulous.  I could barely finish my petite fillet but I couldn’t bear to leave any left on the plate so I did what any girl would do…I ate the whole thing and enjoyed every last bite!

After dinner, we hit the dance floor to ring in the new year.  It was so much fun!

How did you celebrate your New  Year’s Eve?  I know a lot of you were in Atlanta watching Auburn play…any fun experiences?  Hope your 2012 is starting off right!

Till next time, let your light shine!

Blessings, christen
